Emi origins dates back to 1979, in Uruguay, where emergency coronary heart care were offered. In 2007, trough a consolidation play of several pre-hospital medical care companies directed by Tribeca, Grupo emi was formed, establishing itself as the largest network in Latin America in its industry.

Four years later, Tribeca exited its investment in Grupo emi after a sale of 63% of the holding company to Falck, the Denmark based company leader in assistance, emergency, healthcare and training. This transaction was the second successful exit by Tribeca Asset Management.
